Austin, TX | July 10, 2025 —Unprecedented rainfall has turned large swaths of central Texas into a disaster zone. At least 42 people are confirmed dead, and emergency crews are still searching for over 150 missing residents as rivers overflowed and flash floods swallowed entire neighborhoods.
Governor Alicia Martinez has declared a state of emergency, calling this “the most devastating weather event Texas has faced in over a decade.” Rescue teams are working around the clock, and shelters are overwhelmed across the Hill Country region.
“We lost everything in a matter of minutes,” said San Marcos resident Tyler Reed, whose home was swept away.
