What a week it’s been for both “Landman” Tommy Norris and the actor who portrays the tough-talking oil man on the Paramount+ series, Billy Bob Thornton.

In the Jan. 11 episode, Norris was abruptly fired from his job as president of M-Tex Oil by company owner Cami Miller (Demi Moore). Shocking, of course. But the fictional storyline somehow worked its way into real life, with reports circulating that Thornton could be leaving “Landman” after two seasons.

Oscar-winner Thornton, 70, calls the basis for the reports, “AI-generated crap.”

“There’s an AI report that Demi and I are a couple now, and there’s one that I’m leaving the show,” says Thornton. “They have nothing to do with reality.”

With Season 3 scheduled to begin shooting in the spring, Thornton vows, “I’ll be there.”

The actor doesn’t give specifics on his potential stay, but the “Landman” hit continues to roll. Western icon Sam Elliott joined the cast in Season 2 as Tommy’s father, TL, which has been a ball.

It’s been great working with Sam. And I love doing the show,” says Thornton. “I’ll be here as long as it plays out. If it’s five years, great. If it’s six, I’m there.”

As for Tommy, we’ll see on Sunday if Cami reverses her decision or turns her right-hand oil guy into an adversary

Taylor Sheridan has another certified hit on his hands with Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton, Demi MooreAli Larter, and Michelle Randolph. The Paramount+ series follows a slew of characters who are trying to succeed in the ever-evolving Texas oil industry—and viewers can’t seem to get enough. According to a report by Variety, the season 2 premiere brought in a whopping 9.2 million viewers. So, what’s next for the juicy Western drama? Here’s what we know so far about the future of the series.

Has Landman been renewed for season 3?

Yes, Landman was renewed in December 2025 in the midst of the show’s second season.

“So excited to announce we are coming back for season 3,” Larter wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to the fans that have made Landman such a massive success. Honored to work on this show with such exceptional actors and crew. Heart is full. ❤️

As for Thornton, he hopes to continue acting on Landman for many years to come. “As long as I’m able, I want to do it,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in November 2025. “Or, until the story runs out… There are certain shows that have been on for 12, 14, 17 seasons. After a while, it’s like, ‘OK, we get it. But what are you going to come up with next?’ You either have to do something ridiculous or repeat stuff you’ve already been doing. So I think Landman, as an entity, will know when it’s over.”

Who is in the cast?

An official cast announcement hasn’t been made yet, but we can assume that series regulars Thornton, Moore, Larter, Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, and Paulina Chávez will return for season 3. Season 2 newcomer Sam Elliott may reprise his role as Thornton’s father, too. Look out for official confirmation.

When is season 3 of Landmanpremiering?

Paramount+ hasn’t revealed a release date for season 3 yet, but stay tuned.

Has production on season 3 of Landman begun?

In November 2025, Elliot said to Extra TV, “I’m excited to see what unfolds in season 3. I mean, we’re talking about season 2, but that’s backstory for us at this point. We’re all kind of looking toward April and May when we start shooting season 3.”

Not an official timeline, but his words did imply a spring production start.
